What are Hate Crimes and Incidents?
Hate Crimes are any crimes that are motivated by hostility or prejeudice against an identifiable group of people based on a characteristic or perceived characteristic.
This could be:
- Race
- Disability
- Religion or belief
- Gender
- Sexual Orientation
- Trans and Gender Reassignment
- Disability – including physical and learning difficulties and mental health
- The perception that someone fits into one of these categories, even if they do not
Reporting Hate Crime
If you have been the victim of, or have witnessed, a hate crime or incident, you can report it to one of several organisations by:
- Calling the non emergency number 101
- Visiting your local police station
